City of Rocks State Park was named one of Sunset Magazine’s 25 best places to camp in the west for 2013. Hopefully it doesn’t get too crowded. When I camped there in mid September, Charlie Dog and I were the only ones there besides the camp host. It’s a great spot.

On my last big trip I wen’t through all four of the american deserts (Mojave, Colorado Plateau High Desert, Chihuahuan, and Sonoran). I spent the least amount of time enjoying the Saguaros in the Sonoran, something that is on the list to be remedied soon.

When you see a sign like this, you stop. Mosca Colorado is the only place in North America that can grow quinoa. The farm is at 7,600 feet, it can only be grown in a few fields, and will only be successful if grown organically. I bought a 5 pound bag and let me tell you, fresh organically grown american quinoa is way better than anything I’ve gotten in the stores. Order some and support some amazing people, you won’t regret it - www.whitemountainfarm.com

Joshua Tree trip was a success and there will be more pics to come. Word of caution - they are repaving the main park road which means there is a lot of construction. Plan accordingly.
